Diver's New DirectorMeet Rebekah Jarvis, the newest member to the Diver family!

Born and raised in Troy, NY, Rebekah Jarvis is a mixed-media painter, webdesigner, musician, and avid reader.  As a student, she studied Painting, graduating with honors from Hudson Valley Community College and Alfred University with degrees in Fine Art.  Her artwork has been most recently featured in the 2010 Fence Show at the Arts Center of the Capital Region in downtown Troy.  As a devotee and collector of all manner of books, Rebekah has worked in several libraries and has especially enjoyed working with the public and sharing her knowledge with others.  She looks forward to learning more about the Town of Schaghticoke, serving the Diver Memorial library community, and organizing and hosting events. If you would like to learn more about her art, check out http://www.rebekahjarvis.com for her painting portfolio and http://www.formsofair.com for samples and information about her sound art project Forms of Air.

Rebekah officially starts as director July 19th, but she will be at the library from time to time before then learning the ropes and hopefully meeting you!

We'd like to warmly thank the Libri Foundation for a VERY generous donation of 79 brand new books to our Children's and Youth collections.  Titles include Caldecott winners, like the 2009 award winner, The House In the Night, as well as other critically acclaimed titles such as Rick Riordan's immensely popular Percy Jackson & the Olympians series.  We'd also like to highlight some of the terrific new math & science books that came as part of this grant, including Math Attack! and Mission Addition.  Please stop in and browse through them for yourselves.
